The landscapes are extraordinary, but they're also someone's home. Someone's pasture. Someone's sacred lake. The families who host you, the guides who lead you and the communities you pass through are the reason the experience exists.

Sacred places
Every place we travel has places like this — a lake that's been sacred to the same families for centuries. Find out what they are. Treat them accordingly. It's not a rule, it's respect.

The vehicle
The vehicle is a shared space, and it's your driver's livelihood. Eating and drinking in it causes damage and mess they deal with long after the trip ends. Keep the snacks for the stops.

The table
The meals at the places we stay are cooked for everyone — the group, the guide, the driver. Please make sure your guide and driver have eaten before you clear the table.

The exchange
We operate in places like this because we believe travel done properly creates genuine connection between people from different worlds. That only works when both sides of the exchange are treated with dignity. It's the one thing we ask of our travellers.
On tipping
Tipping your guide, driver and hosts isn't included in the trip price — and it's one of the most meaningful things you'll do. They're the reason the trip becomes what it becomes: the history, the stories, the local knowledge you'd never find on your own. A guideline of USD 10–15 per day per person for your guide and USD 8–10 per day for your driver is right. Bring cash — most of the places you'll stay don't take cards.
